Hide AI Overviews — Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 5, 2026

TL;DR — Hide AI Overviews does not collect, store, transmit, sell, or share any user data. Period.

No data collection

The extension has no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting, no advertising identifiers, and no user accounts. We do not know who you are, what you search, or that you even installed the extension.

No network requests

The extension makes zero requests to any server. It contains no remote code and phones home to nothing. Everything it does happens locally inside your browser.

Local settings only

Your preferences (which search engines to filter and display options) and an anonymous counter of hidden elements are stored using the browser's chrome.storage API. If you use Chrome sync, Chrome may sync these settings between your own devices under your Google account — that data flow is operated by Google, not by us, and never reaches us.

Page access

The extension's content script runs only on search engine results pages (Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, Brave Search) and only to hide AI-answer elements on the page you are currently viewing. It does not read, record, or transmit your searches, browsing history, or any page content.

Data removal

Uninstalling the extension removes all stored settings. There is nothing to delete on any server, because nothing was ever sent to one.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new "Last updated" date. Since the extension makes no network requests, any change in behavior would also require a new extension version reviewed by the Chrome Web Store.
